A few months ago, a sweet couple living in Oklahoma – Micah & Lexi – reached out to me letting me know they wanted to elope in the Cannon Beach, Oregon area with just their parents as their witnesses. Maybe I live under a rock, but I had never heard of Cannon Beach (more on Cape Kiwanda later — I promise!). You KNOW I sprinted to Google and my jaw was on the floor as soon as the first image search page loaded. WHAT?! This place exists?! This place is the elopement destination of every adventurous couples’ DREAMS.
Needless to say, I messaged Lexi back IMMEDIATELY telling her I was 10000% down to photograph and film their elopement weekend.
We did lots of research over the summer and eventually landing on the ceremony taking place on a sand dune overlooking the ocean at Cape Kiwanda. It was EVERYTHING and more. They began the afternoon with getting ready at their Airbnb in Rockaway Beach. They then had their first look moment right by the beach so they could ride together for the 55 minute roadtrip to Cape Kiwanda for the ceremony. We hiked up a dune and experienced the most perfect ceremony with both sets of their parents.
The sun was starting to set with the most BEAUTIFUL lighting, so we decided to forego the original plans of having their first dances back at the Airbnb and did them right there on the sand. It couldn’t have been more of a dream. We took bride & groom sunset portraits and ended them with flash right by the water. I could not love how they turned out MORE. We ended the night with cake and pizza at their Airbnb. 🙂
It was a DREAM.
